Days Cottage Pure apple Juice.

Winners of "Best Drink Producer" category in the Cotswold Life Food and Drink Awards 2004, Days Cottage have of a wonderful collection of apple and pear juices, in the shop, in small bottles and standard. Have you tried their Single Variety juices made using fruit from their "museum orchard" of up 100 varieties of apples and pears of traditional varieties of orchard fruit unique to the West Country.

There are two types of apple juice sold here, those with the Green top are a blend of 2 or 3 varieties of apples carefully chosen from Day's range of around 50 varieties, to create Sweet, Medium or Dry juices. The second type, with Gold tops on the bottles are made from particaully unusual apples, including many very old varieties that are unique to Gloucestershire. Each of these gold topped bottles has a lable on the cap with the facinating names of the apples used to make the juice in that bottle.

All of the fruit used to make this juice is grown in gloucestershire, minimalising food miles and giving taste from our local landscape. Some of the apple varieties used are unique to Gloucestershire, giving rich flavours unobtainable from modern commercial fruit and they are all 100% organically grown in oarchards which also provides a great habbit for many birds and insects. Day's also make efforts to conserve and replant traditional orchards and in doing so help to save old Glocester varieties which could be lost to commercial methods. Each bottle is made from over 1kg of fresh fruit and contains no additives, preservatives or sweeteners. Why mess with perfection?
