Michelle Ohlson

Michelle produces a range of decorative earthenware, including clocks, mirrors and jewellery, as well as some functional pieces. Her work is mainly of slab construction, with an under glaze paint - predominantly a rich, blue colour - which is then highlighted with gold lustres. Influences upon her designs include plant forms and Eastern art. She has recently begun to experiment with a new range of work combining a roughly textured black stoneware with elements of kiln-fired glass.

My range of clocks, pictures and brooches are handmade by me in my gloucestershire

workshop.  I use white earthenware clay to produce slabs from which the pieces are made. The colours are achieved by under-glazes applied by air-brushing and hand-painting. This is protected by transparent high-fired earthenware glaze, then further decorated with gold lustre which recieves a final firing. The clock movements i use are reliable and guarenteed for one year.  After that period i can provide a new movement for a small charge.
