Local Businesses invited to apply for University catering contract

29 November 2022 general

The University of Gloucestershire is taking applications for catering contract for it's new Gloucester based City Campus cafe, set to open in late 2023.

University of Gloucestershire’s new Gloucester campus has reached an exciting part of development. The catering contract for the campus is up for grabs, with a desire from the University to have the space filled by a local business.

Speaking to Punchline, Andy Simpson, the University's head of facilities, said:

"We're delighted to open the tendering process for the new café within our City Campus location in the heart of Gloucester. To reflect the embodiment of the campus within the community, we are seeking interest from local suppliers to compete for operating the outlet."

The formally named City Campus is currently being built in what used to be the former Debenhams building, just on the edge of the city centre. The new eatery will be located just inside the campus entrance with views onlooking King’s Square where students, staff and members of the public will be welcome to dine.

With plans to provide a new community feel to the area, the University has stated it wants the new café be part of an offer of new activities in the area for locals and visits alike to enjoy.

The City Campus is within walking distance to the infamous Gloucester Cathedral, Gloucester Docks and The Quays shopping area, so the new café will be a perfect meeting point for a day out in Gloucester.

The new campus is set to open for teaching for the 2023-24 academic year, housing 4,000 students and 350 staff.

Any businesses wishing to find out more and apply for the catering contract for the new café at City Campus should visit the University's e-tendering portal https://in-tendhost.co.uk/glos/aspx/ProjectManage/79 for more information.
